It is often said that Broome’s pearling industry is as rich in culture as it is in pearls. Come and experience a fascinating insight to Broome’s unique heritage at Pearl Luggers, in the heart of Broome’s ‘Chinatown’.
Learn the perils of the deep and discover first hand what made the pearl divers life so hazardous and what drove so many to put their lives at risk.
Was it the riches, the status or just the lure of the pearl? Through daily guided tours and enthralling stories learn of the impact pearling has had upon Northern Australia and why such a large number of nationalities were enticed, often by force, into our pearling industry. View two of the last surviving and perfectly restored pearling luggers, the vessel synonymous with Broome, surrounded by a reconstructed tidal jetty and an authentic pearlers store.

Very informative tour conducted by little Stu, he was passionate and very articulate. Was wonderful to hear the history of the Broome Pearling luggers. The history was shocking but amazing at the same time. Got to see real camera footage and artifacts as well as touch the material. We saw a shell being opened and the pearl emerge. Shame it was not fit for sale but held it all the same and compared it to the $60,000 pearl in my hand which was also on display. We were also offered oyster meat. Would definitely recommend this tour whilst in Broome.

Wandered into Willies Creek Pearls on Robinson ST. and was recommended to try their 11am tour. I had an awesome time and learnt a lot about the history of Pearls in Australia, try pearl meat and even hold a pearl worth $60,000. The tour guide Stu was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour really fun. If you have 90 minutes free in Broome I highly recommend going, it is awesome.

I’ll be honest we only booked the tour to kill a few hours between the rain showers but what a brilliant informative time we had. The tour set up in the middle of Broome was unexpected it certainly is a hidden gem. Little Stewy ( not being disrespectful, that’s how he introduced himself) is a legend, very knowledgeable and extremely passionate about what he does, he certainly made the party feel at ease and the questions were flying in. No hesitation in recommending the tour, can’t wait to get back so we can do the farm trip
